As the Sunny Arizona cities of Mesa, Chandler and Tempe grow in population, more and more cultural offerings are calling Arizona home. The Chandler Center for the Performing Arts has an annual line up of noteworthy performers. Just down the street from the Center, you will find one of the world's finest Western art collections at the Bashas' Museum of Western Art. Once a year, set amidst the desert beauty of the Superstition Mountains, you can revel in a medieval Renaissance Festival complete with turkey legs, jesters and knights of King Arthur's court. Get a taste of the Wild West at Goldfield Ghost Town or Mining Camp Restaurant. For a more contemporary experience, check out the new Mesa Fine Arts Center. Located in the heart of Downtown Mesa, this center boasts a modern design, an impressive collection of contemporary art and a full schedule of performances. The entertainment doesn't stop there. Tempe is also a center of cultural activity. Much of the cultural scene is based at Arizona State University's main campus which is adjacent to the Mill Avenue District. The iconic ASU Gammage, hosts the annual M&I Bank Broadway Across America - Arizona series which has included such famous shows as Disney's The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and The Producers. ASU Gammage itself is a work of art. The 3,000 seat theater was one of the last architectural designs created by Frank Lloyd Wright. The new Tempe Center for the Arts graces the edge of Tempe Town Lake and features a state-of-the-art 600-seat proscenium theater, a 200-seat studio theater and a 3,500 square-foot gallery. In addition, Tempe is host to two annual arts festivals that boast more than 400 artists and an attendance of 250,000 people.
